Research
Each year, we conduct original research on the subject of hunger and low income in Canada.
The largest and most widely consulted of these publications is our annual HungerCount report. The only national survey of food banks and other food programs in Canada, HungerCount is unique in the depth and breadth of its understanding of food bank use in Canada.
The HungerCount report is based on a survey completed by our Affiliate Members, who collect data on food bank usage at their facilities during the month of March. We also collect data during June and September to help us better understand food bank use throughout the year.
The HungerCount report includes highlights of the survey results, analysis, and policy recommendations. It is widely consulted by government, academia, social advocates, and the media.
